# GKS Creative > GKS Creative is a boutique book design studio producing award-winning book covers, interior layouts, and brand visuals for bestselling authors, Pulitzer and Edgar winners, traditional publishers, and independent writers worldwide. Led by founder and designer Gwyn Flowers, the studio offers end-to-end book production, from cover concept through press-ready files, for fiction and non-fiction across every major genre. GKS Creative has designed covers and interiors for hundreds of titles, including books by James Grippando, Sam Polakoff, Barbara Lane (NYC Big Book Award Winner), Wendy H. Adair (2023 IPPY Bronze Medal), Crockett White, Allan Slutsky, Warren Driggs, and many independent authors. The studio serves clients globally and partners with Kim Bookless Editorial and Starry Sky Editing for a full editorial-through-design pipeline. ## What we do - **Book cover design**: Custom, genre-aware cover design for print and ebook. Print-ready PDF, ebook-ready JPG, and 3D mockups delivered. - **Book interior design & typesetting**: Meticulous interior layouts for print and reflowable ebook across fiction, non-fiction, memoirs, cookbooks, children's books, and academic works. - **Graphic design**: Marketing graphics for authors and publishers (logos, ads, ARCs, social and web graphics, 3D covers), image prepress, and ebook conversions (EPUB, MOBI, KDP). PDF preflight and rejected-file repair are covered by File Fix. - **File Fix: rejected print file diagnosis and repair**: Standalone service for authors whose files were rejected by IngramSpark, Amazon KDP, or another print-on-demand printer. Diagnoses and repairs spine width and cover template mismatches, PDF/X-1a compliance failures, unembedded fonts, images below 300 DPI, text outside safe margins, and RGB files requiring CMYK conversion. Available whether or not GKS Creative designed the book. Three tiers: $99 (diagnosis, guide, one PDF, novels up to 300 pages), $299+ (full repair, 2–3 PDFs, non-fiction and novels over 300 pages, print-ready files delivered), $599+ (source file repair, 4–5 PDFs, template creation). Tier 1's $99 is credited against a higher tier if the diagnosis warrants it. Diagnosis returned within three to five business days; repairs typically three to five business days after that. - **Publishing & editorial partnerships**: Access to vetted editors for manuscript assessment, developmental editing, line editing, copyediting, and proofreading via long-term editorial partners. ## Who we serve - Traditionally-published authors and their publishers - Independent and self-published authors - Small presses and hybrid publishers - Estate and legacy projects - Authors worldwide (studio based in Nashville, TN; clients global) ## Key pages - [Home](https://gkscreative.com/): Studio overview and featured work - [Services](https://gkscreative.com/services.html): Detailed service descriptions and FAQ - [File Fix](https://gkscreative.com/book-file-fix.html): Why IngramSpark and KDP reject book files, and how to fix each error; File Fix pricing tiers - [Start Your File Fix](https://gkscreative.com/book-file-fix-start.html): File Fix intake form for submitting a rejected book file, the printer's error message, and book specifications - [Work / Portfolio](https://gkscreative.com/work.html): Gallery of 100+ designed book covers - [Clients Speak](https://gkscreative.com/clients-speak.html): Testimonials from published authors - [About](https://gkscreative.com/about.html): Founder Gwyn Flowers, studio story, credentials - [Contact](https://gkscreative.com/contact.html): Project inquiry form - [Nashville book design](https://gkscreative.com/nashville-book-design.html): Local landing page. Side by side comparison of PDF standard, color space, spine math, margins and ink limits. - [Lightning Source file requirements](https://gkscreative.com/blog/lightning-source-file-requirements.html): Lightning Source processes files as received and does not preflight before processing. Separate interior and cover spec table (interior bleed on three edges only, 0.5 in interior margin vs 0.25 in cover safety, PDF/X-1a:2001 or PDF/X-3:2002), plus the cover template that is not interchangeable with IngramSpark. - [Spine width changes](https://gkscreative.com/blog/book-spine-width-changed.html): Spine width equals page count multiplied by paper thickness (white 50lb 0.002252 in per page, cream 0.0025 in per page), so any page count or paper change invalidates the cover wrap. - [Fonts are not embedded](https://gkscreative.com/blog/fonts-not-embedded-pdf-error.html): How to verify embedding in Acrobat, why Acrobat's Standard preset skips the base 14 fonts, and what the fsType licensing flag does. - [Content outside the trim or safety area](https://gkscreative.com/blog/content-outside-printable-area.html): Trim, bleed and safe zone explained: interiors bleed 0.125 in on three edges only and never the bind edge, safe zone is 0.5 in inside trim on interiors and 0.25 in on covers, plus the gutter margin table by page count. - [Total ink coverage and the 240% limit](https://gkscreative.com/blog/total-ink-coverage-240-percent.html): Total Area Coverage explained, why print-on-demand caps lower than commercial presses, and the recommended rich black of C60 M40 Y40 K100. ## Studio facts - **Founder & lead designer**: Gwyn Flowers (30+ years of book design, advertising, and print production experience) - **Location**: Nashville, TN, USA - **Service area**: Worldwide - **Languages**: English - **Contact**: https://gkscreative.com/contact.html (contact form; GKS Creative does not publish an email address) - **Notable recognition**: Designed covers for NYC Big Book Award Winner, IPPY Bronze Medal winner, American Fiction Awards Winner, American Legacy Book Awards Finalist ## Contact For project inquiries, quotes, and timelines, use the contact form at https://gkscreative.com/contact.html.
